DAY 118

Posted on: August 19, 2008 - 7:14 pm

New York, NY USA August 19, 2008/ writing for August 18, 2008 9:30 am

I wrote a whole piece on what I had said earlier about a discussion on the media. And… no I have not lost it.. I needed to review what I was going to put across and make it more general and comprehensive rather than personal. Though much of what it shall entail will be looked at as personal, I am afraid that cannot be avoided. Also it was involving mentioning incidents, copies for reference, names of journals and journalists. I wanted to keep that out. Many of the journalists and editors that I have met and talked to since the starting of the blog have shown and expressed that they would not like to be mentioned by name. I wanted to review that. So the post has been saved and kept as per the million suggestions from readers how to do that and shall find space later.

Having deviated from my topic of the blog I found myself in the mood of some indulgence and took the family out for lunch. It was a wonderful afternoon. Not too warm here in Manhattan. An Italian restaurant, both outdoor and indoor. You know the kind that spills over on to the pavement. Small compact and cozy. And excellent food. Wonderful time spent. And then a walk down the streets and avenues just taking in the atmosphere.

Some meetings were then held in the room with the event managers. I wanted to suggest some additions for the concert in terms of how I could enhance my performance. That went off well. Then it was back to the Olympics and slumber.

More later

Amitabh Bachchan

ps : I find that most or at least 90% of the comments on the blog are from those that reside in USA. Do others feel that too or am I seeing too much in this ??

    Dear Mr B,

I hope you have thought of including the song “Itne Bazoo Utne Sar” in your performance too. I am sure it surely will be the biggest hilight of the show.
I am sure at least 90% of the comments on the blog are from the US. They have good access to internet which is available in India but again I am sure 99% of your fans in India are not familiar with.

Hey! We in India love you lots, probably more. I spent six months in London, and I came back with the notion that Indian film stars are approachable and wonderful when they are abroad. They go out of the way to be with their fans. However in India they turn snooty and snobbish- very hoity toity. Hated that impression, but felt that way constantly.

What do you say? Ghar ki murgi dal baraabar?

    IDEAHHHHHH!!!!

    Hi Amit Uncle,

I just got a wonderful idea…why not publish your blog in book form? I have been reading the responses and what I read is that your blog, although on the internet, is still not accessible to a lot of your fans. My idea is to make it available. You wouldn’t have to publish all of the posts, just the ones that mean the most to you, select some of the most interesting and relevant responses and include it with your daily post. I think this would be a perfect way to reach out to all your fans…The published works shouldn’t be too expensive so that all your fans are able to afford to it and be enlightened by your thoughts and written words, just as we have…and continue to be. What do you think Uncle?

    Much Love,
    PB
